Cheryl Pond (Azbill)

1944 - 1994

Cheryl D. Pond attended Cedar Hills Grade School and went on to attend two years at Sunset in our class. Here is some information I have found about her that wasn't in the obituary.

Cheryl was born with a heart disorder which caused her to have life-long challenges, but this certainly didn't appear to slow her down.  Cheryl moved to Sacramento when her father took a job as the first Regional Parks Director in Sacramento.  He was later referred to as The Father of the American River Parkway.  You should google him and see the park he created.

Cheryl was married January 26, 1985 to Kenneth Azbill, a San Francisco lawyer.  Mr. Azbill was born on an Indian reservation in round Valley and graduated from S.Fl Stte College and the Lincoln School of Law.  He served on several different boards as well as being active on the Native American Urban Health Center, providing pro bono legal services for many organizations and was particularly active in Indian child welfare law. Mr. Azbill died in 1998.
