Known for his mischievous sense of humor, trademark mustache, and talent for fixing almost anything, Peer Pauli Krane, 79, of Oakland, CA, died peacefully from complications of Alzheimer's disease on Oct. 22nd.
He was born in Portland, OR, to John and Garnett Krane, joining his older brothers Erik and Kjell.
He attended Sunset High School before studying Political Science at Oregon State University, where he spent summers working on fire crews and smoke jumping for the USFS.
Peer joined the Navy and served with Fleet Logistics Squadron VR-30, where he made lifelong friends and flew throughout the Pacific and on the Apollo 17 recovery mission.
Peer met the love of his life, Laurie Furderer, while stationed at NAS Alameda. They married in 1976 and raised their daughters Eirin and Meghan in Oakland.
Peer flew for Transamerica before joining AGS/DNA Plant Technology in 1983 as their Safety and Maintenance Manager, where he was valued for his ability to fix or build anything from carpentry to electrical to plumbing. He got an MS in Safety from USC and worked in biotech until retirement.
Peer was known for wearing his signature uniform of jeans and a polo shirt for over 40 years. He enjoyed acquiring tools for home improvement projects, maintaining his diesel vehicle fleet, and the value of the Costco food court.
He was a devoted dad, ski instructor, Trivial Pursuit expert, cookie connoisseur, pancake chef, and the most beloved human for every family pet.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Garnett Krane, and his brother, Erik Krane.
He is survived by his wife Laurie, brother Kjell, daughters Eirin and Meghan, grandchildren Linnea and Miles, granddog Zoë, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins he adored.
He will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. A celebration of his life will be held in January.

Peer was my classmate and dear friend from the 4th grade in 1954 at Cedar Mill Elementary through our graduation in 1962. I lost track of Peer after that. Until now. 😔 My condolences to my good friend's family and friends. We shared many Scouting adventures in our earlier years together. Including a 1-week Scout Camp at Spirit Lake near Mount St Helens in 1956. Thank you for your military service, Peer! You touched many lives in positive ways!Thomas William Lawson (Tad) McCall
Mike - thanks for sharing this remarkable life with us. What an adaptive, multi-faceted person. And sounds like he had a lot of fun. Sadly another demential case.
