Earl was my best friend during those years, many of them ago. He will always have a special place in my heart. A certain piece of whom I am today is because of him. A good part of me learned from him, a very special and unique man. Earl had ten children. Many of them do not know about Earl in those middle years. I invite any one to inquire about Earl. Earl, from Aloha, of masonry of Tahoe, of California. And of the Ages. There is no one at Sunset, Class of 1962 that does not know of him. Lauren Paulson

Try? It was 1959 at a varsity football game at Beaverton (Sunset’s stadium wasn’t built yet). Coach Mike Clock, whom we all respected, called to Earl Crouchley on the bench: “Crouchley—can you get in there and do better than Bailey (at linebacker)? Crouchley: “I’ll TRY coach”. Mike Clock: "TRY?? TRY?? Sit back down……I want somebody that WILL DO better than Bailey…….”

Earl---A totally committed, moderately talented(in football) guy, with an endearing personality. Great work ethic, which made him a real asset to SHS football----and likely in most settings throughout his life.
10 Children---WOW! Obviously found time to do something besides work/talk.

By chance, I was doing facebook and stumbled on Pastor Earl Crouchley's website. That lead me to the California synonyms and who pops up but Earl Crouchly Jr. There is no mistaking his resemblance to his father, so I messaged him. He was glad to hear from Oregon folks since it appears he has very little info on Earl's days in Oregon.
More later as info develops from Earl's son who also lives in CA. Regards, Lauren

The other day I was kicking back after a hard day of doing nothing. My reward was a frosty drink and a look at YouTube for some tunes. By chance it was Fleetwood Mac and Peter Frampton at Oakland Colliseum in 1977. No.....it couldn't be??!! I checked the dates and my journal. Yep. I was on temporay work assignment in SACTO. Earl pulled up (He lived in Citrus Valley) in an old pick-up and told me to get on some casual duds. We drove to Oakland for that concert. So.........somewhere in that YouTube film are Earl and me responding to Peter Frampton and the magic of Fleetwood Mac.
